Artifact 2: Living and Non-Living
Description of the artifact:
We study living and non-living things during the first quarter. Throughout the unit the students learn the characteristics for living and non living things. At the end of the unit the student have to answer a BCR using the vocabulary they have learn in chapter 1. Since this lesson is introduced early in the year many of my students are not able to write all of their thoughts but they can verbalize them. I decided to create a Voicethread for the BCR so the students can respond orally to the prompt before writing their answers.
Reflection:
This activity was a great success in my classroom. Since it worked out so well I decided to make it a part of my classroom wiki. Now the students have to complete a wriiten problem of the week activity but the can also practice doing a different problem using our weekly voicethread. The students have enjoyed this so much that even if they do not have a cance to complete their comment in class they will do the activity from home.
